When it comes to high-end master bathroom renovations, the best designs don’t just look beautiful, they anticipate the future. For this project in the Brandermill community of Midlothian, we completely reimagined the footprint of the master suite. By merging the original bathroom and walk-in closet, we created a seamless, see-through layout that prioritizes flow, light, and mobility.
Bathroom Remodel with Ultimate Wet Room & Walk-Through Shower
The centerpiece of this master bath remodel is a massive, walk-through wet room. Flanked by his and her vanities, the shower features a zero-entry design with no curb to step over, making it both sleek and mobility-friendly. To manage water flow without bulky barriers, we installed linear drains at both entrances that mimic the look of grout lines, coupled with a subtle floor pitch to ensure perfect drainage.
Luxury Innovation: The BainUltra Tub
While the homeowners originally envisioned a freestanding sculptural tub, practical mobility needs led us to a superior solution. We selected a therapeutic drop-in tub by BainUltra, integrated into a deep deck that allows the bather to sit comfortably and swing their legs over.
According to BainUltra, their Hydro-thermo massage systems contain powerful air jets strategically located at the base of the tub to deliver a therapeutic, acupressure-based massage that triggers a chain of beneficial physiological reactions from head to toe, reducing tension, relaxing muscles, combating stress and eliminating toxins.
This specific model features:
- Aromatherapy and Thermotherapy: An integrated heated backrest and water-heating system.
- Safety Features: Discreet, integrated grab bars for effortless entry and exit.
His & Her Master Bathroom Remodel Customization: Signature Cabinetry
To maintain a clean aesthetic, we tailored the storage to each homeowner’s daily routine using Signature Cabinetry:
- Her Vanity: Focused on expansive Corerra Lazzarini Quartz counter space and deep drawer storage.
- His Vanity: Features a tall storage tower to house personal care items and linens, keeping the vanity top completely clear.
- Designer Details: We utilized waterfall quartz edges on the vanities to protect against splashes and paired them with Delta Strayke fixtures in a stunning Champagne Bronze finish.
Seamless Bathroom Surfaces and High-End Finishes
One of the most dramatic elements of this master bath remodel is the use of MSI Dymo White wall tile. This 12×24 glossy tile is a designer favorite for its super-smooth, bright finish. For a soft yet bold statement, we carried the quartz from the tub decking all the way up the back wall, eliminating grout lines for a look that is as easy to clean as it is beautiful.
Design Tip: When planning for Aging in Place, think about the unseen details. We pre-wired outlets for future washlet seats and ensured the entire floor plan was wide enough to accommodate changing mobility needs.
