The Ultimate Mudroom Remodel: Form, Function, and Furry Friends

A thoughtfully designed mudroom remodel can completely transform the way a home functions, and this project is a perfect example of blending practicality with polished design. From clever storage solutions to pet-friendly features, every detail in this space was curated to support busy, everyday living while maintaining a clean, functional aesthetic.

A Mudroom Designed for the Four-Legged Family

We went all-in on a pet-friendly mudroom remodel. We designed a custom bench seat with a clever open space underneath specifically for a dog bed to slide out of the way. But the real showstopper is the cleaning station.

We installed a deep Lenova undermount stainless steel basin, a smaller version of the kitchen sink, that is perfectly sized for washing small dogs instead of making a trip to the bathroom. Paired with the sink is a Kohler Cassidy faucet with a matching soap dispenser for a polished, professional finish.

To keep the area organized, the custom cabinetry features a dedicated trash pull-out on the left, and an integrated dog food storage on the right.

Clean Lines and Smart Design in a Mudroom Remodel

The most significant change in this mudroom remodel was the addition of a small half-bath in an L-shape configuration where none existed before. Tucked away at the top right of the space, the toilet remains hidden from the main view to maintain a clean aesthetic.  A Whitehaus sink anchors the bathroom with a classic look, paired with a Delta Addison faucet that keeps things simple, modern, and functional.

We also prioritized seamless transitions and smart storage:

  • Discreet Entry: The garage entry is concealed behind the cabinetry on the left.
  • Integrated Appliances: We repurposed the original Sub-Zero fridge from the kitchen and integrated it into the left side of the mudroom cabinetry.
  • Dedicated Storage: A full-height broom closet on the right keeps cleaning supplies organized and out of sight.

Polished Finishes in a Modern Mudroom Remodel

The mudroom’s aesthetic is elevated through a sophisticated selection of materials that polish the space. Classic black and white marble floor tile establishes a timeless, high-end foundation that complements the White Zement Compac countertops. These surfaces are accented by elegant Barrinson knobs and pulls, which add a refined element to the custom cabinetry. The natural light pouring in through the glass-paneled door leads to the front porch where the side entrance is located, providing the mudroom with a fresh atmosphere.
