When a home suffers from disjointed builder-grade details and conflicting architectural styles, purposeful spatial reconfigurations and thoughtful material layering can unite segmented rooms into a bright, cohesive sanctuary. This project transformed a multi-room footprint, spanning the kitchen, living room, wet bar, foyer, dining room, powder room, and laundry room, into an interconnected whole-home remodel designed for elevated daily living and effortless entertaining.

Spatial Engineering: Unifying a Multi-Room Footprint
The primary objective was a comprehensive kitchen redesign, but the broader challenge was bringing harmony to the surrounding living areas so the entire main level spoke a single, sophisticated design language.
In the grand foyer and main living spaces, heavy Corinthian columns and dated window mullions were removed to open sightlines and eliminate architectural clutter. To establish a smooth visual flow from the moment you step through the front door, large-format 24 x 24 Intricate Bianco Crosscut rectified porcelain field tile was installed across the foyer footprint, extending down the main corridor through the kitchen and into the laundry room. Meanwhile, original hardwood floors throughout the adjoining living, kitchen, and dining areas were refinished in rich White Oak.
Executing this seamless transformation also required solving significant structural and architectural challenges behind the scenes:
Engineered Foundation Support
The kitchen floor possessed an existing structural slope that could not be leveled by traditional floor jacking without disrupting exterior windows and door casings. Our team engineered custom concealed leveling solutions and added heavy-duty subfloor structural framing underneath to safely support a massive new center island.
Cohesive Cabinetry Foundation
To unite the living, kitchen, and bar spaces, custom David Bradley cabinetry in the Drexel flat panel profile was specified across all primary areas, finished in a custom Sherwin-Williams Snowbound paint.
The Kitchen: High-Performance Design Meets Organic Contrast
Adhering to our core philosophy, contrast in texture, not in ornament, the kitchen pairs soft neutral tones with rich tactile finishes and state-of-the-art appliances.
Tactile Material Layering & Custom Details
- Dual-Tone Countertops: Perimeter surfaces feature crisp Swan Quartzite, contrasted by a striking center island capped in Niagara Black Phyllite, a rare stone featuring subtle, iridescent veining.
- Textured Tile Backsplash: The main walls feature 3 x 9 Cascade Arctic glossy ceramic field tile by Speartek, highlighted by a handcrafted 4 x 4 Misty Zellige accent tile framed behind the range.
- Custom Focal Point: A custom Hoodsley cabinetry range hood painted in Sherwin-Williams Snowbound anchors the cooking zone, housing an integrated ventilation unit directly above the Wolf range.
- Refined Fixtures & Hardware: A Delta Stryke pull-down faucet in Arctic Stainless pairs with a Franke undermount sink, accented by Jeffrey Alexander hardware in Satin Nickel.
- Integrated Storage & Pantry: Built-in cabinetry wall units keep small appliances organized, while a fully custom walk-in pantry with full-extension shelving provides organized capacity.
- Integrated Appliances: Outfitted with a high-performance Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove appliance suite.
The Wet Bar & Living Room Built-Ins
Positioned directly off the living room, custom built-ins and a wet bar serve as secondary entertaining hubs, echoing the millwork and materials of the kitchen while introducing warm metallic accents.
- Full-Height Quartz Backsplash: Features Oceanus quartz running up to the upper cabinets, finished with a custom scalloped side-splash transition engineered by the fabricator.
- Artisanal Sink & Faucet: A hand-hammered Native Trails Mojito round drop-in bar sink in Antique Copper paired with a Brizo Arteso prep faucet in Venetian Bronze.
- Hardware Accents: Jeffrey Alexander Belcastel 1 pulls in Distressed Oil-Rubbed Bronze.
- Living Room Built-Ins: Matching custom Drexel cabinetry and Oceanus quartz countertops frame the fireplace, featuring back-lit illuminated shelving for absolute continuity.
The Powder Room: Rich Tone & Material Contrast
While the main living areas feature light, airy finishes, the powder room introduces warm, intimate texture through contrasting wood tones and specialized fixtures.
- Custom Cherry Vanity: David Bradley cabinetry in a Drexel reverse-raised door profile, crafted from natural Cherry wood with a deep Slate stain.
- Elegantly Crafted Surfaces: Capped with a custom quartz remnant countertop, paired with a Kohler Whist basin in Opaque Stone and statement marble-patterned wallpaper selected by the homeowners.
- Coordinated Fixtures: A wall-mounted Brizo Invari faucet in Polished Nickel, matched with coordinating Brizo cabinet hardware.
